Nathan’s written another gorgeous article about a couture wedding stationery collection, this time designed for Charlton House Hotel in Somerset. I love hearing how stationery concepts are turned into real pieces which can then be adapted for every couple, and Nathan’s latest ventures into wedding venue illustration are inspired! Do check out Artemis Stationery especially if you’ve booked a beautiful venue and would like to incorporate it into your wedding stationery. Over to you, Nathan!

There are so many themes you can choose from as inspiration for your wedding: rustic, vintage, art deco… and now Brit Luxe aka British Luxury, or Brit Lux / #BritLuxe for the character deprived world we now find ourselves in (thank you twitter #loveureally). In August I was lucky to collaborate with top florist Sabine Darrall. Based in Gloucestershire Sabine is one of the region’s top florists and as such runs training courses for other florists. In August at Charlton House Hotel Sabine ran her Brit Luxe workshop.
Charlton House Hotel was voted in the top 5 romantic hotels. The hotel has a soothing and relaxing atmosphere that gets you almost as soon as you’re inside the door, very apt for a spa. Standing out the front it seems small and I wondered quite how it was the 5th most romantic hotel in the UK. Step inside and you know. You just do.
I was asked to supply stationery to compliment the day’s Britluxe theme. We decided to make Charlton House part of the design for the Britluxe wedding stationery I had to design. The course would use British flowers to create a beautiful floral canopy and large scale grouped displays so as well as menus and place cards for the table we wanted a welcome sign to go with the large scale displays.
I used a script font with real flourish complimented with a modern serif font to maintain a very clean look. The final icing on the cake was using a calligraphy style pattern at the rear to add interest as the design of the house was only filling the bottom part of the welcome sign and menu and the reverse of the place cards. You can see all of the designs here:
Caroline is also a great florist and assists Sabine at some of her flower school events. Based in Bath her floristry name is Foxy Buds.
What works for a floristry school also would work for a wedding. The frame I used is available for my clients to buy or hire and compliment the colour scheme of the day perfectly. Sabine had borrowed gold sequinned table cloths from Pudding Bridge (they look amazing in gold and silver). Matching stationery could be made as wedding invitations or any item of stationery. You can see another venue illustrated for a couture wedding invitation here. See similar designs in the Artemis Stationery coast and country estate collections.
